After 1 day of events, the CCHS Boys Track team sits in first place with a score of 50 points. That is good enough for a 9 point lead over second place Springville. For the boys 7 events have gone final. The top finisher of the day was Van Fillinger, who won the 5A Shot Put. Other boys earning points for the team were: Rafael Erickson, 3rd place -High Jump; Mark Boyle, 4th place – 3200 M and 5th place – 800 M; Caleb Johnson, 5th place – 3200 M; Alex Harbertson, 4th place – 800 M; Jake Orr, 6th place – 800 M; Boys Sprint Medley Relay (Cody Hagen, Cole Hagen, Noah Kjar, Alex Harbertson)
The Girls Team is in 8th place after the first day, with many of the teams strengths in the sprints still to come. Scoring for the girls team were Karen Crapo in the high jump (6th place), Sadie Steiner in the shot put (7th place), and the Sprint Medley Relay finished second (Kayla Milford, Reagan Winget, Maryn Granger, and Karli Branch). In addition, Ceyda Ural finished 2nd in the Pole Vault, which is a non-scoring event for 5A.
Both teams will be back in action on Saturday for the rest of the finals in sprints, relays, 1600 M, and the relays.
